Delivering on a wide range of facilities management projects over the years, our staff are well-placed to address the needs of any private or public sector businesses. Our management team, led by Managing Director Steve McDonough, has considerable experience when it comes to customer satisfaction – having worked in such diverse industries as social housing, private lettings, student accommodation, leisure and retail.

Steve was self-employed for 20 years working in the catering and retail sectors importing and selling direct to the five main supermarkets in the UK. Steve went on to work for Opal property group for six years where he was involved in the site acquisition and management of student developments . At Opal Steve managed a portfolio of 10,000 properties including market rental and key worker.
Steve joined parent company Derwent Living 11 years ago as commercial director managing market rental , key worker and student accommodation. Steve became managing director of Derwent FM in 2014.
Head of Human Resources
Ray has over 20 years experience as a senior HR specialist, able to use his knowledge to oversee the day-to-day implementation of Derwent FM’s people plan. Ray has worked on numerous TUPE transfer processes and spearheads the company’s training and development programme.
Israr Shah has a wealth of experience in the FM industry having previously worked in similar roles for top companies such as Asda, Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Center Parcs.
Originally trained as a marine engineer, he is responsible for the compliance and safety of all of the company’s system – which includes both hard and soft FM.
Director of Derwent Students
Mark has been working in the commercial and student rental sector for nearly 20 years and has been a non-executive trustee on numerous SPVs delivering purpose built student accommodation.
Mark’s current role is to oversee the customer experience and ensure service standards are kept across Derwent Students’ large portfolio.
Nick Birch is a qualified chartered accountant who has clocked up more than 30 years in the industry.
Nick has spent that past couple of years in freelance roles, having previously worked for a wide variety of businesses ranging from a major European distribution firm to a family construction company.
